Nicky Henderson is one of the best trainers who has secured 60 Cheltenham Festival wins. Some of his successes include the win with See You Then at the Champion Hurdle in 1985 – 87. He was a champion trainer in the 1985/86 and 1986/7 seasons. He has an amazing track record at the Cheltenham Festival and the only current trainer that has won more races than Henderson is Willie Mullins. It’s also worth pointing out that Nicky Henderson has been appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 2020 New Year Honours for his contribution to horse racing.

It is important to know which horses are being trained by reputable trainers as these will more or less make their way to a great win. To do this, you have to understand which trainers have won the most prizes and in which events. A name that surely stands out is Wille Mullins. This Irish champion was the trainer of 65 spectacular winners and surely enough this number will keep rising. Mullins lives in Ireland and his son, Patrick is his assistant trainer who also happens to be an impeccable jockey. 

Back in the days, Mullins was an assistant trainer to his father Paddy and Jim Bolger. His career as a racehorse trainer started in 1988. Before he became the legendary trainer we know today, he was Irelands’ six-time amateur champion jockey. Two of his most significant wins were the 1983 Aintree Foxhunters’ and the 1996 Cheltenham Champion Bumper.

Mullins’ most unforgettable horses are the 2005 Grand National Winner Hegehunter, Annie Power and Faughen ‘The Machine’.
